Season 1 of Tastemade’s “Beyond the Block” Features Downtown Wellington
On July 16th, television hosts, producers, cameramen and sound crew from Tastemade took over downtown Wellington, CO to begin filming for “Beyond the Block,” a new show that leads homebuyers on an exploration of prospective neighborhoods, local businesses, and the history of communities before they sign on the dotted line.
In the episode — which airs Thursday, September 24th on Tastemade’s Streaming Network — features original programming in the categories of food, travel, and home & design. Realtor Andrew Tyree takes first-time homebuyers and Fort Collins chefs Isaac and Rachel to visit destinations in Fort Collins and downtown Wellington.
The producers of “Beyond the Block” reached out to the Wellington Main Streets Program earlier this year to recruit Executive Director, Kallie Cooper to help the show highlight the hidden gems in the small Northern Colorado community.

“I was blown away and honored to be asked to be a part of this project. Wellington is so special, and it was an amazing opportunity to share its history and the things I love about it with people all across the country,” said Cooper.
The program will showcase local businesses like Owl Canyon Coffee and The Cakery as part of the charm and draw of the downtown area, highlighting local history and the resiliency of the business owners through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film crew spent two days in Wellington filming downtown buildings, parks, and even visiting local neighborhoods, talking with residents and helping the prospective couple find the perfect area to raise their family in. Wellington residents, Sarah and Adam Braun, met the couple and had the chance to share what they love about the area.
“It was super cool to be a part of it. Living here changes your view and shows you that its more of a community in Wellington than you realize. Rachel and Isaac are super cool, and we’ve kept in touch with them and they have even gotten together with moms in the neighborhood for playdates.”
Wellington’s popularity is growing as a relocation destination, particularly with young homebuyers. It is the fourth fastest growing town in the state and the eighth most popular Colorado town to relocate to, according to a Market Leakage analysis conducted in November of 2019.
The Wellington Main Streets Program will be hosting watch parties at the Wellington Grill and Sparge Brewing at 6:30 pm on September 24th for anyone who would like to watch the program LIVE!
